Statement collars are a fun, easy way to spice up your fall wardrobe! We’ve mainly seen the statement collar trend manifest itself in two ways this season: the first is bold collar necklaces, and the second is contrasting collars on blouses and dresses. A collar necklace is a great way to add instant glam to any outfit, and a contrasting collar on a blouse or dress instantly gives your look something special. We’d strongly recommend you give both types of collars a try this fall (you’ll definitely see us rocking both!). By the time your done reading this blog post, you’ll be an expert on the statement collar trend!
STATEMENT COLLAR NECKLACES
We’ve always been a fan of statement necklaces in general, but this fall it’s all about the collars! Take a look at some of our favorite collar necklace styles above. The best thing about collar necklaces is their versatility – while they look ultra-glam, they can be incorporated into a casual look just as easily as a formal one! Below, we show you two different options for sporting these beauties – an outfit for a formal occasion and a stylish office ensemble.
GLAMOROUS IN BLACK AND GOLD
This glamorous gold ensemble stands out on it’s own, but the Tom Binns collar necklace is icing on the cake! While this look errs on the daring side, we were careful not to pile on any extra accessories. Since the shoes and bag are special pieces, the statement collar necklace is the only jewelry needed. We love the necklace paired with this dress by Rag & Bone. Since the dress cuts high at the collar, the necklace will lay nicely on top of the fabric.
COLOR, PRINT, COLLAR!
For more everyday wear, a statement collar works great for the office! Again, this look is comprised of multiple special, detailed pieces, but we’ve kept the silhouettes very classic to make sure the outfit doesn’t look too busy. Jeweled statement collars look great against black, which is why we chose this black crew-neck sweater by Equipment. This outfit exudes poise, confidence, and style – you’ll be sure to command attention and turn some heads!
A statement collar necklace can also be a great addition to your weekend look, since it adds instant polish and style without a lot of effort on your part. Check out our Oxblood blog post for an example of how to wear a collar necklace on the weekend.
Now on to contrasting collars! We love the look, because it adds the perfect amount of detail and personality to a simple dress, blouse, or sweater. The examples above show pops of color, sequin embellishments, and peter-pan collars as just some of the possibilities for the contrasting collar trend. Contrasting collars look very classy and put-together, and you can easily incorporate them into your work and weekend looks!
A POP OF CORAL
For this polished fall look, we paired this Equipment silk dress with cognac-colored riding boots and basic accessories for a more relaxed vibe. The statement collar in coral, along with the cream detail and pockets, gives the dress a touch of personality. This outfit would look great with black tights, and it’s a nice option if you want to look put-together on the weekend. The dress can absolutely work for the office as well when paired with a cardigan or blazer. If you want to go more daring with this look, you could throw some cobalt blue into the mix, via a blazer or a pair of opaque tights!
