In 1994, Julie Chaiken launched her brand, then called Chaiken & Capone, with her business partner Pamela Capone. The label was a huge success in the mid-90s, known for their perfect-fitting boot-cut pant. Of her classic pant, Julie says, “When I got into it, people were wearing bad men’s pants. There weren’t a lot of options. We came into the market with this really fantastic body-conscious fitted pant, and that’s what I became known for [sf gate].”

In 1998, Capone left the business, and Julie bought her co-founder’s share, renaming the brand Chaiken. She continued to produce beautiful designer workwear season after season. In 2008, Julie moved the brand to San Francisco, where it continues to be based today. Chaiken is sold in over 200 stores internationally, from New York to Tokyo, and every piece is designed and produced in the U.S.

    This look is the epitome of classic meets edgy. The clean lines of the jacket and skirt keep the leather-on-leather from looking too harsh, and the striped detail on the blouse is really sharp.

    Black and White

    Black and white is a huge trend for Spring 2013, and Chaiken does it beautifully here. The simplicity of this look is almost artistic.

  • Pastel Pink

    Pastel Pink

    Pastels are also very on-trend for spring, and this pale pink color is absolutely gorgeous! I love how this dress is slouchy and sporty, to offset the fact that the color is so feminine.

  • Coral Cardi

    Coral Cardi

    Chaiken’s spring collection is very modern, with only a few pops of select colors. I love the choice of this bright coral. It’s a great way to mix colors in the same tone family when paired with the pastel pink.
