David Meister

BIO
David Meister cultivated the art of designing with stretch fabrics while working at Danskin, the fitness and bodywear company, his first job out of college. He was born and raised in Ohio, where he studied fashion design at The University of Cincinnati College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning. He grew up heavily influenced by style-conscious TV shows of the late 60s and early 70s. In his first job at Danskin, Meister found himself infatuated with stretch fabrication, and grew fascinated with the way stretch materials can flatter the curves of the feminine form, yet still embody high fashion.
This fascination remains a focal point in his designs today. CakeStyle loves Meister’s flattering, fashion-forward line of beautiful, well-constructed cocktail dresses, day dresses, and evening gowns.
Meister believes in giving back to the community; he serves as an ambassador for Dress for Success and was recently honored by Susan G. Komen for his commitment to raising awareness to breast cancer. Meister is a regular on news and entertainment TV programs, including appearances on Access Hollywood, the Today Show, and The Insider. Meister and his partner, film producer Alan Siegel, currently live in Los Angeles.
BRAND
David Meister’s designs are characterized by a juxtaposition of materials and textures (leather and mesh, shimmer and matte), flattering ruching and draping, and asymmetrical shapes and features to create tasteful interest.
